Like all Government cities where powerful and influential people meet, rumour follows. Let’s delve into a few Conspiracies about our hometown, Canberra. We researched into every rumour from Capitol Hill to restaurants with dubious connections. Here is what we found:
Illuminati in the Capital
When first looking at Canberra, you see a well-oiled machine and marvel of modernist design. But it could be a giant symbol of the occult! This conspiracy was raised after rumours spread about the architect Walter Burley-Griffin’s geometric design actually being messages and symbols. This can be seen in the triangular positioning of the streets and the pyramid structure of the buildings, most significantly, Parliament House. There are also 12 steps leading up to the glass pyramid at the peak of capitol hill, many believe this is a reference to the 12 steps leading to the ‘Eye of Providence’. So are these symbols actually proof of Canberra’s secret societies’ hidden ceremonies? And is this more evidence that Lizard people run Capitol Hill?
Scientology and The Pancake Parlour
The Pancake Parlour (now known as ‘Capitol Pancakes’) and Canberra’s Church of Scientology currently share a roof in the Sydney Building in Civic, but it seems that they share much more. Pancake Parlour was originally created in Adelaide by American Scientologist, using the Diner-style Pancakes as a front for Scientology. In 1984, Pancake Parlour made its home in Canberra, four years after the Church of Scientology arrived in Canberra in 1980. In the middle of these arrivals the Church gaining religious status and tax exemption by the High Court in 1983, which conveniently coincides with the dessert restaurants’ appearance. Decades later, in 2017, journalist Royce Kurmelovs revealed that the Parlours’ connections to the church. The release of this article saw the establishment quickly change its name to Capitol Pancakes. Perhaps as an attempt to bury its connection to the church? So what else could they be hiding?
Old Parliament House’s Underground Tunnels
Underneath Old Parliament house is a series of secret tunnels, lots of them, that criss-cross Capitol Hill. Their entrances are concealed from view, some with trap doors. Many reports have claimed that these tunnels are for “infrastructure purposes”, but we’re not so sure. On the surface, Canberra is meticulously designed, it would only make sense for the underground to be just as detailed. So why are these secret tunnels true purpose still being kept hidden? Maybe because they are still being used, or maybe there are more we don’t know about that are still functional? What else could be hiding in those underground tunnels? Maybe that’s where “missing” Prime Minister Harold Holt is hiding?
Top Secret Archives
The National Archives is a massive collection of Government, military and public documents, some are accessible online and in person, while some are private and, perhaps even Top Secret. Many answers to Canberra’s mysterious past and present, secretive plan, could be held within the walls of the archive. They may hold anything from records of UFO sightings to Government scandals. There could be records of secret societies, and proof of the lizard people invasion. And maybe, deep in the depth of the archive, there could be an answer to why every ACT number plate begins with a Y? Why do they all start with a Y? WHY!
